President Donald Trump unplugged over 50 years of auto emissions standards in California, commencing with the Republican Nixon Administration and enforced by an air pollution agency created by then-CA governor Ronald Reagan. California’s EV mandate, an initiative to remove gas powered vehicles from new car showrooms by 2035, was struck down in a ceremonial White House presser celebrating a congressional resolution. A clear victory for domestic auto makers, as well as the oil industry…the move allows big auto to avoid costly upgrades to vehicle manufacturing upgrades, while protecting billable gasoline gallons over the next decade.
